Academic Qualifications

Stephen graduated from Strathclyde University with a Bachelor Arts (Honours) in Sociology and History in 2005, and a PGCe in Information Management in 2008. A member of the Early Scottish Maritime Exchange, his research interests are focused upon Glasgow merchants and transatlantic slavery c.1640-1850. He has delivered talks on this theme during Glasgow’s Doors Open week, Black History Month and the West End lectures. His first book, a social history of Glasgow and slavery told through the urban environment, “It Wisnae Us!”, was launched on October 28th 2009.
